Core Education helps with VITAL preparations
The Open University (OU), in conjunction with eSkills, have recently won a large government bid to set up ICT professional development provision for all state registered schools across England. They have named it VITAL, as it is just that and they asked Core Education to help them set up a variety of online activities for them.
The launch of VITAL at BETT 2010
Vital was launched at BETT 2010 and is open to all school staff. It
contains a number of items from short courses to regional development
programmes. There is also an online element, which will house best
practice from around the world. Core Education was responsible for initiating a variety of online activities for them: Showcases, Case Studies,
Springboards and a schedule of Hotseats and Keynotes in preparation for
the launch. We have covered topics as far ranging as “Creating Deep
Thinkers through Podcasting” to “eSafety” and “Cloud Computing”.
Keynotes and Hotseat guests have ranged from Professor Stephen Heppell, former Director of world renowned learning, technology and research centre 'ULTRALAB' and who is currently recognized by the Department for Children, Schools and Families as
“the most influential academic of recent years in the field of technology and education”, to award winning practitioners such as KC Kelly-Markwick, ILT Co-ordinator at Oakwood Court College and winner of the 2009 Becta Next Generation award for 'Furthering My Learning'.
