Earthquake hits Core Education NZ

It has been less than six months since a major earthquake hit our colleagues in Christchurch, New Zealand and then at lunch time yesterday, another large quake, measuring at 6.3 magnitude struck again, this time causing massive devastation leaving, at the last count, 65 dead and 100’s trapped in buildings. Having texted with our New Zealand colleagues, it seems that some of the Christchurch staff were out of town in Rotorua for the Learning@School conference and of those left in the Chirstchurch office on Kilmore Street, they are shaken, but OK. Our prayers go out to their families, other Core Education staff and all those who are in Christchurch, as they face the aftershocks and the trauma of the coming days.

We have had many updates and text messages from our colleagues and miraculously it seems that no immediate staff or family have been injured badly, although many of their properties have been damaged and some are now uninhabitable.

David Bailey, the web manager, has managed to get some photos of the office and surrounding area onto the Core Education Facebook page. You can see them by CLICKING HERE
