Lesley McGuire

It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Lesley McGuire, on February 22nd, 2014. I first met Lesley in 1999 as ...

Lesley McGuire 1953-2014

... a colleague during the TescoSchoolnet2000 project and we became work friends during our time at Ultralab. She was wise and thoughtful with a quiet but strong and sensitive manner and was a passionate educator. She taught me about professionalism in the workplace, always seeing the better side of people and was considered and tactful in her approach. She worked on several landmark projects including TescoSchoolnet 2000, Talking Heads, Ultraversity and headed up the ground breaking QCA eViva project. When Ultralab was disbanded in 2006, we kept in touch both socially and via Core Education as we worked together on joint projects between Macmillan, (where she was Learning Technology Manager at the Macmilan Cancer Support Centre) and Core Education. I will miss her greatly, her kindness, her sense of humour and her cheery manner.

Condolences from ex colleages have been pouring in from around the globe, including South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland and these were passed on to the family who had them read out at the funeral.

Our sincerest condolences go to her husband Chris, her father, two sisters and the rest of the family, including Moby her beloved dog.

If you were a friend or colleague and feel you would like to mark her passing, the family has requested that donations be made to The Dog's Trust.
